About us.
Kemp Architecture is a newly formed design led practice, founded in the wake of the pandemic of 2020. We are located on the south coast in Bexhill-on-Sea and cover Sussex and the Home Counties. Ka specialises in high quality sustainable residential, education and mixed use commercial architecture, offering professional services in architecture, interior and landscape design.
At Ka, we believe design is more than the creation of beautiful buildings and spaces – design influences how people work, learn, heal, interact and live. The spaces and solutions we create should therefore make you feel good and enhance the quality of life.
Architectural Design focuses people at the centre of any emotive space. The people who use and live in our buildings, the people who pass by our buildings and the people who commission our buildings, a process of close collaboration, a constant dance of ideas.
The practice works closely with clients, tradesmen and developers alike to identify your needs, to realise the potential of any brief, to deliver Innovative, sustainable, quality buildings, and prides itself on high standards of design.
Who We Are
The practice is led by Stephen Kemp RIBA, an award winning architect, who has more than 30 years experience on a wide range of projects. He studied Architecture at South Bank University specialising in sustainability and ecology where he graduated with distinction. He has developed his career working on a variety and size of projects within government and local authorities along with local award winning private practices.
A technically oriented project manager with strong client focus, typified by the promotion of high levels of personal involvement and the strong sense of project ownership, has allowed Stephen to develop long standing client relationships.
He has maintained a passion for sustainable design and has recently set up a new practice to pursue and promote this goal further.

What We Do
In summary we offer and can undertake any or all of the following services which will define and deliver your vision:
- Initial advice and sketches. There are risks and opportunities in every project, we identify these and weigh them against the core objectives to present the best solution.
- Feasibilities (often larger more complex projects)
- Sketch and final design, broken down where required to sets of services. We can help you visualise your ideas with a 3D digital model with an interactive design session.
- Sustainability and core technical advice. Essential at this stage which influences budgets and the planning process.
- Planning applications, (pre-applications is a great way to discuss and to get the written views of the planning authority without expensive alterations later on.) The input of various specialists may be required as part of this process and we can advise and co-ordinate other surveys and reports they may also need.
- Listed building advice and applications.
- Technical design suitable for building control approval, and construction.
- Procurement and tendering advice.
- Construction-technical advice and queries.
- Contract administration, where required by you.
